Facing south on one acre, the lodge is of cedar panabode log construction and is one level, ranch style. Of the five rooms, four are revenue and one is occupied by the manager. All rooms have a private bathroom. Central heating is by hot water. A large woodstove heats the common room, generally with wood scavenged from the beach.
Alert Bay (pop. 1,200) is on Cormorant Island, a 35 minute BC Ferry ride from Port McNeill on the north-east coast of Vancouver Island. Our guests are generally from Europe, here to go grizzly bear viewing, whale watching, kayaking and experience a thriving First Nation culture. We arrange these and other activities including salmon and halibut fishing and marine tours of First Nation cultural sites. Other revenue sources include corporate travel, meeting space for local government and local parties.
The Lodge was built in the ‘60’s and the present owners have owned it since 2001. It is very well regarded on Trip Advisor and is recognized as "BC Approved Accommodation".
